We are into the 4th game in the Carribean Premier League 2023. Hosts Saint Lucia Kings will look to leverage the home advantage as they take on the Guyana Amazon Warriors. The Kings had started the season with a loss in their opening game but bounced back in style in the last game, defeating the Barbados Royals. The Guyana Amazon Warriors start their campaign in this game. They made it to the playoffs last year and have a strong side. Both teams have firepower in the batting department, and we expect a good clash here.  

Saint Lucia Kings Preview      

Faf du Plessis led from the front to guide his side to a 54-run win in the last game against the Barbados Royals. It was a much-needed win for the hosts after they lost against the Jamaica Tallawahs in their opening game. They failed to defeat the Warriors last year, and Faf du Plessis would like to turn it around in this game.   

The side will expect a good show from Faf du Plessis and Johnson Charles, as the pair did well in the last game. They have an experienced middle order and shall look for runs from Sean Williams, Roston Chase, and Sikandar Raza, as they all have made runs in two games. Roshon Primus and Matthew Forde are good hitters, and the side will expect fireworks from them in the lower middle order.  

Their bowlers did well in the last game, but they will be up against a formidable opponent in this game. Chris Sole has struggled in both games, and he must bowl good spells with the new ball along with Forde. Alzarri Joseph is enjoying a good run, and he will need to bowl good spells in the middle overs with Raza and Khary Piere. The side will expect a good show in the supporting role from Sadrack Descarte and Chase.

Guyana Amazon Warriors Preview     

Shimron Hetmyer's team would look to start their campaign with a win. However, the side will miss a few key players busy with Lanka Premier League. It hurts the balance of the team, especially at the top of the batting line-up. They have done well against the Kings in the past but don't enjoy a good record at this venue. Hetmney would like to lead from the front in this game. 

Chandrapaul Hemraj did well last season, and he will look to offer a solid start with Saim Ayub. Shai Hope comes here in great form and will look to anchor the innings in the middle order with Dwaine Pretorius and Hetmyer. Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd, and Odean Smith and powerful strikers, adding an X-factor to the batting line-up.   

The bowling attack will face a tough challenge in this game. Shepherd and Keemo Paul must strike early to put Saint Lucia Kings on the backfoot. Junior Sinclair did well for the side last year, and he must bowl good spells in the middle overs with his experienced partner Imran Tahir. They will need a good show in the supporting role from Odean Smith and Gudakesh Motie.

The surface gets slower in the second innings, as we saw in the last two games. Batting becomes difficult with slowness in the surface. Chasing the score is never easy at this venue, and hence the side winning the toss shouldn't hesitate to bat first.

There will be slightly cloudy skies over St Lucia. The wicket is flat, and batsmen have always done well. Big scores are a norm, and the surface doesn't offer much to the bowlers. The side batting first will need 180 runs on the board to feel safe, as anything under that is chasable, as most betting tips would tell.
