We are in the business end of the Caribbean Premier League 2023. It is the 2nd Qualifier and the Jamaica Tallawahs face the hosts Guyana Amazon Warriors. The Tallawahs have stormed into this game with a 5-wicket victory over the Saint Lucia Kings in the Eliminator. Their bowlers are in good form, but the side has some batting concerns which is bringing down their betting odds. The Amazon Warriors had a bad day against the Trinbago Knight Riders, going down by 7 wickets. Both teams will battle hard in the middle to win this game and reach the final against the Trinbago Knight Riders.  

Jamaica Tallawahs Preview      

Brandon King will be pleased with the performance of his bowlers in the Eliminator against Saint Lucia Kings. They restricted the Kings to a total of 129 runs and chased it down with 5 wickets in hand. However, the batting line-up has lacked consistency, and this will worry the skipper. They are up against a side against whom they have lost twice in the season and Brandon King would like a spirited show from his team.  

Brandon King must lead from the front and deliver a good start with Alex Hales. The pair has a lot of experience and they must make it count. In the middle order, Shamarh Brooks, Imad Wasim, and Raymon Reifer haven’t been consistent and they must build partnerships for the side to win. The Tallawahs have depth in their batting and can expect cameos from Shamar Springer, Fabian Allen, and Chris Green.  

They have a strong bowling attack and need early strikes from Mohammad Amir and Raymon Reifer to unsettle the Warriors. Imad Wasim has claimed 14 wickets already and he must bowl well in the middle overs along with Shamar Springer and Chris Green. Nicholas Gordan and Fabian Allen complete a strong bowling attack for the team.

Guyana Amazon Warriors Preview      

Imran Tahir would look to put the 7-wicket loss against the Trinbago Knight Riders behind them. It was a poor outing for their bowling attack which has bowled well this season. Tahir’s team has been consistent, and they have won against the Tallawahs twice in the league stage. He would like his players to use the home advantage and do well.  

Saim Ayub has made 406 runs this year and he will look to provide an electrifying start with Odean Smith in this game. Shai Hope with 415 runs is in good form too and he must anchor the innings and add quick runs with Azam Khan and Shimron Hetmyer. Romario Shepherd, Keemo Paul, and Kelvon Anderson add firepower to this batting line-up.  

Their bowlers need to overcome the poor show in the last game. Dwaine Pretorius and Romario Shephard must get the openers out quickly to put the Tallawahs on the backfoot. Gudakesh Motie and Imran Tahir have enjoyed a good run in this tournament and their spells in the middle overs shall be crucial. Keemo Paul, Shamar Joseph, and Odean Smith have to do well in the supporting role.

We expect the conditions to be overcast and this will aid the fast bowlers at the start of the game. The wicket has eased in the second half in most of the games this season. The side winning the toss shall look to take advantage of the conditions by bowling first in this game.    

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS      

We may have rain during this game. While the surface has been flat and allowed batsmen to score runs, the overcast skies will aid the bowlers in this game. Both sides have to play cautiously in this do-or-die game. The side batting first shall be happy to have 170 runs on the board.  

OUR PREDICTION      

It will be a close contest as both sides have enjoyed a good run. Jamaica Tallawahs come here with a win but their record against the Warriors has been poor. Their middle order hasn’t been consistent and it is a major weakness for the side heading into this contest. The Guyana Amazon Warriors play at home and have their top order in good form. We expect a close game here but the Warriors are favorites according to cricket betting sites.
