Our Predictions

  • Netherlands has lost both the games they have played against India.
  • Indians have lost only four of the last 18 games played in India.
  • Netherlands hasn’t defeated a top-rated side in the last four years.

MATCH PREVIEW

It is the second and final warmup game for hosts India, and they will look to put up a good show against the Netherlands. Both teams have the chance to try all their players in this game before they head into the World Cup. India has an experienced team, and they will look for a confidence-boosting win in this game. For the Netherlands, it will be an excellent opportunity to test their players against some of the best players in the world. While the odds are stacked against them, they will look to do well and gain confidence.

India Preview

Rohit Sharma and his men missed the first warm-up game against England as rain played spoilsport. The hosts have been in good form with the Asia Cup win and defeating the Australians in the home series. However, the pressure will be on the team to do well in this game and gain momentum ahead of the mega tournament. Bookmakers consider them favorites, and Sharma would like to put up a textbook show in this game.

The Indian batting has done well in recent games, and the side will like a good show at the top from Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli. The team has a problem of plenty in the middle order, and they would like to get their playing combination right. All eyes will be on Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja will look for a solid match practice.

The Indian bowling attack has been in good form in recent games, and all eyes will be on them to do well in this contest. The pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, and Mohammad Shami will battle between themselves to book a place in the playing XI. Kuldeep Yadav, Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin will also have a battle between them. Pandya and Shardul Thakur would also like to roll their arms.

Expected Starting XI for India

Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj

Netherlands Preview

Scott Edwards and his men struggled against Australia in the last warm-up game till rain came to their rescue. They are the least experienced side in this tournament, and few would  bet on them to defeat the Indians. The side will look to use this opportunity to prepare for the mega tournament. They have a few talented players, and they must do well.

The batting line-up struggled against Australia, and the side would like to see Max O'Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Teja Nidamanur, and Scott Edwards do well in this game as they are the mainstay of this batting line-up. Colin Ackermann and Bas de Leede are good hitters, and the side would like to see them free their arms against the strong attack the Indians have.

Roelof van der Merwe and Aryan Dutt did well against Australia and the side will look for a good show from them in this game. Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeren are the key bowlers for the side, and all eyes shall be on them in this game. Bas de Leede, Shariz Ahmad, and Ryan Klein would look to gain confidence with good spells against the strongest batting line-up.

Expected Starting XI for Netherlands

Scott Edwards (c & wk), Max O'Dowd, Bas de Leede, Vikram Singh, Teja Nidamanuru, Paul van Meekeren, Colin Ackermann, Roelof van der Merwe, Logan van Beek, Aryan Dutt, Ryan Klein, Wesley Barresi, Saqib Zulfiqar, Shariz Ahmad, Sybrand Engelbrecht

TOSS: To Bat First

We expect most teams to bat first in the World Cup as the wickets will be flat and allow batsmen to play their strokes. Chasing scores under the lights won’t be easy and hence the side winning the toss won’t hesitate to bowl first.

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

There is a prediction for cloud cover and rains at Thiruvananthapuram on October 03 and this will test the batsmen. In the games that have been played so far at the venue, we have seen the pitch aiding the fast bowlers. Any score of 320+ would be extremely competitive on this surface.

OUR PREDICTION

The Netherlands must use this game to gain confidence. They have talented players, but this will be a test of their mental strength as they face the best batsmen in the world. Their batsmen also haven’t been at their best which will worry the side. Indians have been clinical in recent games, making them favorites.

Our Prediction is for India to win
