MATCH PREVIEW     

It is the penultimate game of the Indian Premier League, 2023 and you may be busy with your betting apps. Defending champions Gujarat Titans would throw all they have as they take on 5-time title winners Mumbai Indians in the 2nd Qualifier. The winner of this game would face Chennai Super Kings in the final. The Titans lost the 1st Qualifier against CSK, and returning home, they would look to deliver a strong performance. Mumbai has found its mojo in the last few games, and they will aim to book a berth in the final for the sixth time.  

Gujarat Titans Preview     

Hardik Pandya’s side wouldn’t have wanted to play this game after their superb show during the league stage. They had a poor outing against the Chennai Super Kings in the 1st Qualifier, going down by 15 runs. The Titans had their chances in the last game but failed to capitalize on them. They had won the last time they played Mumbai Indians at home, and Pandya would like his players to draw inspiration from that win.  

Shubman Gill is the second-highest scorer of the season with 722 runs. He will look to provide an electrifying start, opening the batting with Wriddhiman Saha. Dasun Shanaka, Pandya, and David Miller will like to exploit the weakness in Mumbai’s bowling attack and score quick runs in this game. Rahul Tewatia, Vijay Shankar, and Rashid Khan add depth to this line-up, making it strong.  

Mohammad Shami has already grabbed 26 wickets, and the team will depend on him to deliver early breakthroughs sharing the new ball with Mohit Sharma. They will expect Rashid Khan to work his magic in this game and do well in the middle overs with Noor Ahmed. Pandya and Alzarri Joseph will have an important role in the supporting role.

Mumbai Indians Preview     

Rohit Sharma’s seems to have peaked at the right time. They have won the last four out of five games and put up a convincing performance against the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator, where they crushed them by 81 runs. It will be a different ball game against the Titans. Mumbai hasn’t had the best season with the ball, and Sharma would need his bowlers to start from where they left off in the last game.  

Rohit Sharma hasn’t been in great form with two fifties, and he must set up a big stand with Ishan Kishan at the top. Mumbai’s middle order has led the charge for the side. They will need a strong performance from Suryakumar Yadav, who has made 544 runs. Yadav must build partnerships with Cameron Green and Tilak Varma in the middle order. Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, and Chris Jordan add firepower to this line-up.  

Rohit would love to see his bowlers repeat the last game’s magic and expect a good spell from Jason Behrendorff and the last game’s hero Akash Madhwal. Piyush Chawla has been their most consistent bowler and will look to do well with Hrithik Shokeen. Jordan and Green have leaked runs in most games, and their roles as support bowlers will be crucial for Mumbai’s fortunes.

The last four games have seen the side defending the score win the game and it tilts the odds. The wicket has slowed down a bit since the start of the season, and chasing a big score won’t be easy on this track. Both teams have good batsmen, so we believe the side winning the toss would like to opt for batting first.  

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS      

We expect a warm and humid evening in Ahmedabad. The batting surface has been excellent, and batsmen have scored runs easily. The spinners will aim to use the slowness on the surface, which we have seen in the last few games. It is a high-pressure contest, and the side batting first will be happy to have 180 runs on the board.  

OUR PREDICTION      

The stakes are high for both teams in this game. Mumbai Indians have an edge in batting as the Top 5 can win a game on their own. However, their lack of consistency with the ball is a worrying sign. It is their show with the ball that may decide this game. Gujarat Titans have a strong bowling attack and openers in good form. The game will go down the wife, but our money is on Gujarat, thanks to the two key bowlers who have had a great season.
