It has been a disastrous tournament for Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. As the two sides battle in the 38th game of the tournament, Bangladesh will look to restore lost pride as Sri Lanka hopes to keep hopes alive with a big win. Bangladesh lost against Pakistan in the last game, and they are the first team out of contention for the semifinal. The Sri Lankans were humiliated by the Indians in the previous game, with their batsmen and bowlers failing to compete. As the stakes are high for the Lankans in this game, we hope to see them play with a lot of determination.  

Bangladesh Preview     

Most cricket betting tips wouldn't have talked about Shakib al Hasan's side losing six games in a row. But here they are out of contention for the next round after their seven-wicket loss against Pakistan in the last game. The big names in the team have failed in this tournament and let the side down. They have a poor record against the Lankans and shall look to put up a spirited show and give something to their fans to cheer.  

Litton Das showed sparks, but the side needs a big stand from him and Tanzid Hasan in this game. Form has deserted Najmul Hossain Shanto in this tournament, and he must deliver the goods with Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim in the middle order for the team to have a chance. Mahmudullah has been the only positive story for the side, and he has a significant role in the lower middle order with Towhid Hridoy and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.  

Their bowlers will fancy a chance here after watching Sri Lanka's debacle in the last game. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam will look to use the new ball as the Lankan top order has struggled in the powerplays.    Mustafizur Rahman hasn't lived up to this reputation, and the side will have big expectations. Mehidy, Hasan Miraz, and Shakib must bowl tight spells as this small ground can make it challenging.

Sri Lanka Preview     

It was one of the lowest points for Sri Lankan cricket in the last game as Kusal Mendis' side went down by 302 runs against India. They looked utterly at sea with the bat and failed to put up a resistance against the Indian bowlers. They still have a technical chance of reaching the next round. The side has a good record against Bangladesh, with 6-2 in the last eight games. The odds are high for the side in this game, and Mendis would like his players to justify that.  

They must put behind the humiliation in the last game. Pathum Nissanka has batted well in the tournament and must deliver a good start with Dimuth Karunaratne. Sadeera Samarawickrama has shown consistency in the middle order and must do well with Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka in the middle order. Angelo Mathews and Dushan Hemantha must deliver the goods in the lower middle order for the side to win.   

Dilshan Madushanka has been the lone bowler to have troubled opponents, and he must get early wickets with Dushmantha Chameera to put the Bangladeshis under pressure. Kasun Rajitha and Maheesh Theekshana must bowl tight spells in the middle overs to keep the scoring rate under check. The side will also expect a good show in the supporting role from Hemantha and Matthews.

It has been the best batting surface in the tournament, and we have seen huge scores. There has been some assistance for the bowlers under the lights in the second innings. Both captains shall take cue from the previous results and bat first upon winning the toss to take advantage of the conditions.  

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS      

We expect low visibility in Delhi during the game due to the adverse weather conditions. The wicket is flat, and batsmen can play their strokes easily on this track. There isn't much for the fast bowlers on this track. Spinners can turn the ball on this track. The side batting first must aim to score 325 to feel comfortable on this wicket.

Six consecutive loss has derailed Bangladesh's campaign. The top order has failed in this tournament, and the side must bat first in this game to win. They have struggled against Sri Lanka, which will be on the players' minds. Sri Lanka's top order has played well, and they will look to keep up their good record against the Bangladeshis. We expect a close game, but according to our World Cup betting guide, the Sri Lankans will start favorites.
